The Kauffmans at Timberwind

With one of the oldest breeding herds in the country, the Kauffmans have been raised llamas for 25 years from 1981 through 2006. Their combination of North American and South American influence animals gave the visitor, whether buying or simply viewing, an intriguing selection. They consistently produced Grand Champions and always kept many of them in their breeding herd.

In addition to providing breeding services they also have run a reproduction center for problem breeders. With their love for this unique animal, they made a total commitment to the health, well being and future of these beautiful llamas and raised llamas full time as their livelihood.

They have been very active in both regional and international llama associations while constantly sharing their llamas with the local community. Hank is a founding member and past president of the Ohio River Valley Llama Association, a past president of the Alpaca & Llama Show Association, a llama and alpaca judge, and an instructor for new judges in judging clinics. Hank conceived and developed the ALSA Regional Championship Shows and the ALSA Grand National. He has served as Show Superintendent of the ALSA Grand National for the first four years.
